In celebration of the United Kingdom's Black History Month, numerous creative practitioners within the Children's Book Industry will entertain with Readings, Storytelling, Poetry, Music and Book-Craft Activities just to get your young ones hooked on books! 

We are convinced that books can be mirrors, windows and doors to worlds old and new, familiar and not, equipping them with adequate life skills, self-confidence, positive self-esteem, empathy and more in embracing their uniqueness and achieving their full potential.

  • Meet our Special Guest Author: Tola Okogwu author of ONYEKA and the Academy of the Sun and find out some great insights to this futuristic fantasy thriller.
  • Hear what the only Sierra Leonean, Professional Storyteller Usifu Jalloh, has to say about Storytelling and Heritage.
  • Sing along & Learn a new song with AnneMarie Anang Author of I am Nefertiti.

Venue:  Chelmsford City Museum in Essex   Authors & Creatives for CALFE 2023 Three years into the Online CALFE (Children & Authors' Literary Fanfare & Events) marked a significant achievement in the founder's desire to see culturally diverse books in the hands of children, not just within school or library settings, but as joint family experiences.  When Sade decided to flow with the idea of creating a forum for authors of African and Caribbean heritage in 2021, it was mainly due to the imposed lockdown and the need to help herself and other authors sail through isolation.
